JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2023(Expected)

You must meet the five requirements for JEE Advanced eligibility set forth by the organisation in charge of administering the exam in order to attempt the exam in 2023 and be admitted.

1: JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria- Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) Examination

The Qualifying Exam is a crucial component of the eligibility requirements. According to the requirements, a candidate must have passed the 10+2 exam or a similar test in 2023 with the subjects of mathematics, physics, and chemistry. Additionally, candidates who are currently registered for this exam in 2023 are also qualified to take it.

2: JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria- Age Limit

The age requirements for Advanced candidates vary depending on which reservation group they belong to. The standard is that the date of birth for applicants in the General category must be on or after October 1, 1997. Candidates who are SC, ST, or PWD are given a five-year age reduction; therefore, they must have been born on or after October 1, 1992.

3: JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria- JEE Main

The candidates to appear for the Advanced must have cleared the JEE Mains 2023. The JEE Main cut off will be released with the JEE Main Result, that is where the candidates get to know whether they can appear for the JEE advanced or not. Basically, the top 250,000 candidates (including all categories) are eligible for the exams. The categories are divided as follows:

• GEN-EWS – 10%
• OBC-NCL – 27%
• SC – 15%
• ST – 7.5%
• OPEN – 40.5%
• PwD – 5% horizontal reservation in all of the above.

4: JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria- Number of Attempts

Only two consecutive years can pass before the candidates can attempt the exam again. The contestant is only allowed to make two attempts.

IIT – A candidate is not permitted to take the Advanced if he or she has previously attended an IIT. This is true whether the student enrolls in the course for the entire term or simply shows up at the center and accepts a seat. Authorities for JEE Advanced view their admission as revoked.

5. Relaxation in Criteria as a Special Case for JEE Advanced 2023

For individuals who first took the class 12th (or equivalent) test in 2020–2021, successfully enrolled for the JEE Advanced in 2021, but did not take it, there is a one-time measure. Candidates who first took the class 12th (or equivalent) exam in 2020 or 2021 and successfully registered for Advanced 2021 but did not appear in both papers, i.e., Papers 1 and 2, of JEE Advanced 2021, are eligible to directly apply for Advanced 2023 and do not need to meet Criteria 1 through 4.

However, they must successfully complete the online registration process for Advanced 2023 and pay the registration cost. Furthermore, the number of applicants who would qualify from JEE Main 2023 to sit in JEE Advanced 2023 would be added to, not subtracted from, the consideration of these candidates.

Due to the ongoing epidemic, this is a one-time precaution that is only applicable to Advanced 2023.These applicants must visit the Official website and register for the exam in order to validate their eligibility to participate in JEE Advanced 2023. Candidates who first took the class 12th exam prior to 2020 are not covered by this one-time measure.

6: JEE Advanced Eligibility Earlier Admission at IITs

Regardless of whether the applicant stayed in the programme or accepted an IIT seat by reporting “online” or at a “reporting centre” in the past, the applicant should not have been admitted to an IIT. Candidates who had their IIT admission revoked after enrolling in an IIT are likewise ineligible to take the Advanced 2023 exam.

Candidates who were first-time enrolled to a preparatory course at any of the IITs in 2021 may take the JEE Advanced exam in 2023.

Candidates who received an IIT seat through JOSAA 2021 but failed to report “online” or at any “reporting center” or withdrew before the final round of seat allocation for IITs, or who had their ticket cancelled before the final round of seat allocation for IITs, are eligible to take the JEE Advanced 2023 exam.

JEE Advanced Eligibility for Foreign and NRI Candidates 2023

The following candidates will be treated as Foreign/NRI Candidates-

• Candidates who are not citizens of India by birth or naturalized 
• OCI/PIO card holders 
• Candidates whose parents don’t have the Indian Citizenship or come under the OIC/PIO category

Candidates from other countries who have completed or are completing their 10+2 or equivalent studies abroad at the time of registration for JEE Advanced 2023 are not required to take the Mains 2023 exam; instead, they may register for JEE Advanced 2023 directly, provided that they meet the other eligibility requirements listed below. All overseas applicants will be taken into consideration in addition to the 2,50,000 Indian applicants who are eligible to compete in Advanced 2023, not instead of them.

1: JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria- Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) 

A candidate should have taken the Class XII (or equivalent) test for the first time with the disciplines of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in either 2021 or 2022. Unless covered by the one-time exceptional provision, candidates who had taken the Class XII (or equivalent) test for the first time in 2020 or earlier are not eligible to take the Advanced 2023 exam. When a class XII (or comparable) exam appears, it means that the board in question announced the results for that year whether or not the exam was actually held. Even if the outcome of a particular candidate was kept secret, it would still be seen as an appearance.

Candidates must PASS class XII (or equivalent) examination with the following subjects:

• Physics
• Chemistry
• Mathematics
• A language
• Any subject other than the above four

2: JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria- Age Limit

Candidates have to have been born on or after October 1, 1997, to be eligible.

Students from nations where serving in the armed services (or those of an ally) for at least a specified amount of time before or after the Class XII (or equivalent) test is required are given an age relaxation. In such circumstances, the candidate is required to upload a certificate or testimonial issued to this effect by the responsible body at the time of registration.

3: JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria- Number of Attempts

A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in consecutive years.

4: Relaxation in Criteria as a Special Case for JEE Advanced 2023

For individuals who initially entered class XII in 2020, this is a one-time measure. Candidates who took their Class XII (or equivalent) exam for the first time in 2020 are also eligible to take the JEE Advanced exam in 2023 as a one-time special measure due to the ongoing pandemic, provided they took the exam only once in either 2020 or 2021 or did not take any of the papers in both JEE Advanced 2020 and JEE Advanced 2021.

This one-time measure only applies to applicants who will be appearing in JEE Advanced 2023 for the first or second time; it does not apply to applicants who first took their Class XII test before 2020. No applicant is permitted to take the JEE Advanced exam more than twice. This special measure is only applicable to Advanced 2023.
