First stage: Shortlisting
The shortlisting of candidates for the INA SSC Officer position is done on the basis of the normalised grades they received in their last year of engineering school. The grades earned through the fifth semester must be submitted by students who are in their last year of study.
Second stage : SSB Interview
The second step of the INA SSC Officer selection process is the SSB Interview, which is typically held over the course of five days. This round consists of several stages, including screening, a psychological exam, a GTO, an individual interview, and a conference. Check the other round of the interview given below;
- Screening
The screening phase is the first step, and it includes the verbal and non-verbal tests as well as the PPDT. The analytical prowess of the candidates is typically assessed at this level.
Tests in both verbal and non-verbal communication are given to candidates, who must complete the questions on the test sheets within the allotted time.
The second phase of this level is the PPDT (Picture Perception and Discussion Test), during which the applicants are briefly given a picture. After that, students are given a specific amount of time to write the entire story related to the image.
2. Psychological Test
The second round of the SSB interview is a psychological test, and its primary goal is to assess the candidate’s mental fortitude and comprehension abilities. The following area contains the sublevels for this round:
Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) – This round is comparable to the PPDT round in that applicants are given a brief opportunity to view a picture before developing a narrative around it.
The Word Association Test (WAT) asks candidates to compose the first statement that comes to mind after reading a line for at least 15 seconds after being shown a word.
Situation Reaction Test [SRT] – The candidate will have 30 minutes to respond to the questions on the response sheet provided in this round.
Self-Description Test (SD) – During this 15-minute round, the candidate will be asked for his opinions on his friends, family, and self.
3. Group Testing Officer(GTO)
The third round, known as the GTO (Group Testing Office), is the hardest one of them all. The test is made to simultaneously assess candidates’ mental and physical capabilities. There are nine separate jobs in this stage, and each one is important.
- GD (Group Discussion)
- GPE (Group Planning Exercise)
- PGT (Progressive Group Task activity) (Progressive Group Task activity)

4. Personal Interview

5. Conference
The final phase of the Indian Navy SSC Officer SSB Interview typically ask candidates about their overall impressions of the selection process. A candidate’s suitability for the Indian Navy SSC Officer job profile is also determined by the inputs. For individuals whose performance is below par, the questions in this session might be difficult and crucial.
