Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national examination conducted on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, and Roorkee).
The GATE Committee, which is made up of members from the administering institutes, is the single body in charge of regulating the exam and declaring the results. The examination cities in India are divided into eight zones for administrative considerations. GATE operations are controlled by a ZOnal GATE office at the administrative Institute in each of the eight zones (IIT or IISc)

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2023 – The GATE Exam date for 2023 has been declared by IIT Kanpur. GATE 2023 will be held on February 4, 5, 11, and 12, 2022, with registration closing on September 30, 2023.
GATE 2023 Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) enrollment will begin on August 30, 2022. GATE Exam centers are located throughout India, as well as in six locations abroad. The exam would be entirely computer-based (CBT). GATE 2023 – The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering will be held on 29 Subjects, commonly known as Papers.
What is the Eligibility for the GATE 2023 Exam?
Before beginning the application procedure, the candidate must confirm that he or she fits the GATE 2023 educational qualifying standards. A candidate who is enrolled in the third or higher year of any undergraduate degree program OR who has previously finished any government-authorized degree program in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts is eligible to take the GATE 2023.
NOTE 1: If a candidate is pursuing or has already acquired a degree higher than that shown in the table below, he or she will be eligible to take the GATE 2023 Examination.
Criteria for Candidates
- An applicant must have finished or be in the last year of their Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology (duration: at least 3 years) or;
- An applicant must have finished or be in the last year of a Post Graduate (Master’s) degree (duration: at least two years) in any relevant Science topic.

GATE Exam Financial Assistance (Scholarship) & Fellowship in M.Tech/Ph.D.
GATE Financial Assistance is provided by colleges or institutions that are backed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and other government entities. Students who wish to take advantage of the GATE financial aid privilege in a Ph.D. or master’s degree must take the GATE test.
Syllabus for GATE 2023
GATE 2023 curriculum and information booklet have been announced by IIT Kanpur. The syllabus has not been altered. The test syllabus changes depending on the paper chosen by the applicants. The curriculum for the General Aptitude (GA) segment, on the other hand, will be identical for all 29 exams. The General Aptitude portion will be weighted at 15%, with the core topics receiving 85% of the points.

Can I apply for how many GATE Exam Papers?
A candidate may apply for one or more of the 29 papers mentioned in the GATE INFORMATION BROCHURE or on the GATE website. The candidate will be responsible for selecting a suitable paper. Further guidelines in this respect are provided below:
The candidate is expected to choose a paper that is relevant to the discipline of his or her qualifying degree.
The candidate may also select any other paper from the authorized combination based on his or her admission plan while keeping in mind the eligibility criteria of the institutions to which he or she desires to apply.
Is it possible to modify my GATE Examination Paper or GATE Exam after I submit my application?
Yes, that is conceivable. A request for a modification in the GATE Examination Paper will be considered for a fee. A precise time period will be announced on the GATE website.
Is it possible to modify my GATE Exam Category once I submit my application?
Yes, that is conceivable.
Requests for category changes will be accepted until a certain deadline, which will be announced soon on the official website. Any requests received after this date will not be considered.
